- Heartwood is pale reddish-brown whereas the sapwood is off-white or tan in color, however, can be pink with some yellow hues.
- Grain is straight with a medium to coarse texture.
- Low, natural luster.
- Sapwood is perishable and open to insect attack, not rot resistant.
- Easy to work with without really damaging or effecting cutters.
- Stains and finishes well.
