Texas Ebony

  • Heartwood can range between dark red, purplish, brown, to nearly black. Sapwood is a pale yellow color. Heartwood also ages to almost black.
  • Grain can be irregular with a fine uniform texture and a very good natural luster.
  • Very durable against decay resistance.
  • Can be difficult to work due to density, however, it turns very well and is able to take high polish.
  • Is not considered to be a true ebony.

***FUN FACT: The seeds from the Texas ebony tree have so many different uses such as just being eaten, using the seed as jewelry, or as a coffee substitute. ***
