- Heartwood is a pale yellowish or reddish brown, whereas the narrow sapwood is paler by comparison.
- Grain is generally straight; however, small knots are sometimes present which can lead to a more interesting grain pattern. Grain also has a fine uniform texture with good natural luster.
- Moderately durable to rot resistance, whereas there is mixed resistance to insect attacks.
- Easy to work with both hand and machine tools.
- Glues, stains, and finishes well.
- Has a very fresh fragrant scent.
