Partridgewood

  • Heartwood ranges from golden yellow to a darker reddish brown. The wood grain can have parenchyma bands of varying thickness to give the wood a subtle jagged and streaked appearance. The sapwood is a narrow grayish yellow and is clearly depicted from the heartwood.
  • Grain can be straight to slightly interlocked with a very coarse and porous texture. Grain also has a low natural luster.
  • Very durable in decay resistance and has moderate insect resistance.
  • Easy to work, however, interlocked grain pattern may show some difficulty during surfacing operations.
  • Glues, turns, and finishes well.

***FUN FACT: Partridge wood gets its name from its grain pattern which resembles the wing of a partridge. ***
